Genocide on Indigenous people started in the 1400's.

You know 1942 Christpher Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

(Trigger warning contains details of genocide)

Reservations are lands that Indigenous people live on today that is recognized by the United States. The land was formed when the genocide of Indigenous people happened about 500 years ago and reservations were forced on Indigenous about 300 years ago

Tribes are what Indigenous people identify by in relation to there ancestry and territory.

Although all reservations have a tribe, not all tribes have reservations due to the genocide.

Total Federally Recognized Tribes:

574 tribesIncludes 227 Alaska Native entities and 347 tribes in continental US (Bureau of Indian Affairs, 2025)

Total Reservations: 326 reservations

Federally recognized reservations across more than 35 states (Bureau of Indian Affairs, 2025)

During the genocide mass murders, violence, and sexual violence were committed to all Indigenous. Committed biological warfare with disease. Giving our people blankets with smallpox. Weaponizing laws. Settlers Introduced alcohol to Indigenous people to get them drunk and manipulate treaties.  Natives were not considered citizens until the 1920s. Even though we we'd become legal citizens our culture was still illegal. Land was stolen and many tribes were forcibly relocated by brutal force. The Trail of Tears. Often punished or killed if any resisted. Land resource destroyed. For example, the mass killing of buffalo (western unites states) was committed by the government to force natives to depend on government food rations. Forcing religion by brutally mentally and physically punishing indigenous people if they were caught practicing or speaking their own culture of language. Boarding schools were created to help with forcing assimilation. Richard Pratt quoted "Kill the Indian, Save the Man. The last boarding school was closed in the 1980s. Kids were stolen right from there camps. They cut our braids and punished us if we used our language or tried to practice our culture. Indian Religious Freedom act was only just passed in the 1970's.

Having left Indigenous people today with impoverished reservations, lost culture, & lost identity. Many massacres are recognized and remembered by Reservations today

Committing Cultural appropriation though stealing many indigenous art/style and gaining profit. Which is an ongoing thing that happens today.

We reservation kids were taught the truth by our elders and our indigenous reservation educators. They recognized that the United States education taught the education with false information to cover up the genocide of Native Americans. They did so in a way that completely brainwashed the rest of the Unites States for centuries to think Indigenous people were savage, inferior, inhumane, dead, and of the past. This is false.

We are still here.
